As is his trademark, Rush talked about many different subjects without sounding aimless or rambling! One of the subjects he touched on was the Tea Party movement. He sums up the Tea Party movement perfectly in the following lines:

The people who make the country work are anonymous. They are not seeking fame. They are not trying to get noticed. They are not trying to get noticed on reality TV shows. They are not trying to get noticed on gossip columns in newspapers and so forth. They are out there struggling against the obstacles that have been placed in their way by this administration, trying to hold on and preserve the American dream. And now they have risen up and become a political force called the Tea Party.

Rush hit the nail on the head in this description. We don't want to be famous, we don't want fifteen minutes of fame. We just want our country back.

Why Are All of the Best Politicians Governors?

I would really like to know why all of my favorite politicians are governors! Just think about it for a minute: Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Tim Pawlenty, and, of course, Ronald Reagan. And unfortunately for us, many of these politicians are committed to there jobs in their home states. Christie, for at least the second or third time, has said that he will not be going for a 2012 bid. He says that he is not ready for two reasons: 1) he doesn't want it more than anything else, and 2) he doesn't think he is ready to lead the nation. I do thank him for his honesty and his candor, but we really need someone like him in the White House. The good news is, a lot can happen between 2010 and 2012. There are several politicians who have said, in public, that they will not make a bid and then changed their minds; our very own President Obama is one such politician.

In the mean time, thank you Chris Christie for showing us that there are still some fiscally responsible politicians left in this country!

The Establishment vs. The People

The establishment Republicans are really showing their colors, aren't they? When the people spoke last week as to who they want representing them in Washington, the Republican incumbents just went crazy! Murkowski in Alaska is going to run as a write-in candidate and Crist will be running as an Independent. Alexander Burns at Polittco correctly identifies this behavior as "poor-loser syndrome". Actually, I would be more apt to call it "spoiled-brat syndrome", but to each his own. Burns also stated the following: "Murkowski’s move ends the 2010 primary season about where it started: With a Republican legislator, well regarded within the Beltway, effectively bolting the party to look after their own fortunes". These people are only showing their true colors, the colors that we have all been suspicious of anyway. All they are doing is strengthening the position of the grassroots GOP and proving our point for us: These guys are more interested in their careers than they are in representing the people.

Read the rest of Burns' article here: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42462.html. So many things have happened in my life. But most of it is the same. This blog is still all about my opinions and my random thoughts about North Carolina politics, as well as naional and world politics.

It seems like so long ago that the country was actually taking our distinguished president seriously. Now it seems like everyone is taking what that man says with a grain of salt. We all knew this would happen, but I personally thought it would take slightly longer. I am happy to have been proven wrong!

I hope to be going to more NC political events and national events to post on them. I am really geared up this campaign cycle! See? Not really that old. But I am old enough to remember the days during the Bush presidency when all the protesting was going on and all the Bush bashing. Well, am I wrong to be nostalgic for those good old days when protesters were not accused of "undermining democracy". Back then, the protesters were the ones who, according to the mainstream media, were protectors of democracy. Remember those days?

The difference between the conservative protesters of today and the liberal protesters of the last eight years is the fact that we are actually making well reasoned arguments and asking important and legitimate questions. The liberal protesters of the Bush years were just spouting rhetoric and acting like spoiled children.

But I still look back on those years and wish that the protesters of today, who act like reasonable adults, would be treated with the same courtesy as the spoiled children of yesterday. And that we are SO, SO SORRY for being such a MEAN country ever since out founding in 1776.

We need to stop saying things that hurt people's feelings so that EVERYONE can feel good about themselves, even if they are doing things that are wrong.

Well, at least Obama is keeping one of his promises: he is remaking America.

Is There Something Wrong with this Picture?

There are two British Embassy officials that are being held by the Iranian clerics that are going to tried on the false charge of encouraging the protests against the election results in Iran. The Brits, as is only right and proper, are raising holy heck and asking the rest of the European Union to recall their Ambassadors from the country in response. France is standing with them, but it seems like everyone else is just to scared. They have been trying to butter up the Ayatollahs for a while now and if they raise their voices against them, they may ruin everything. So, this situation puts the power in the hands of the Ayatollahs for the time being.

Those countries that will not stand with Great Britain remind of parents with a spoiled child. They don't want to cross the kid because they are afraid that the kid is going to throw a fit!

Anywho, what struck me about this whole ordeal, other than the obvious aspects, is the fact that France is the one country in the EU standing up with the Brits! Surprise, surprise! And a pleasant surprise at that. But I must ask the question: Where is the U.S.? I had always thought that we stood with our friends.

We'll see...

Headlines

Some of the most interesting items in the news today! All about Michael Jackson and how wonderful he was and how he contributed so much to American society. It's amazing how people are more interested in celebrity news than the news that's going to effect their lives. Oh, well.

One the most important stories of the day has to do with Taliban in Pakistan withdrawing from a peace treaty with the Pakistani army. JOY! Another front for the marginally effective Pakistani army to fight on. I hope we don't have to give them a hand, but the possibility is still there. Let's hope the Pakistanis can deal with this themselves, and if they can't, pray that our president is wise enough to see that we must help out in this volitaile situation. After all, who in this crazy world would want to see Pakistan's nukes in the heads of those insane lunatics who call themselves the Taliban?

Ignorence is Bliss- For a While

For the past few weeks, I have been somewhat detached from world affairs because I have been reading a great many novels. I have found the break from my obsession to be absolutely wonderful! In addition to enjoying my novels, I have been in a surprisingly good mood as of late. I believe this has to do with not knowing a great deal about what our wonderful first black president has been up to. Don't get me wrong, I have been following some of the more important parts of the news, but I have not been obsessing over any of it. But like most things in life, this short but sweet interlude in my summer has come to an end. There are no more books in the series I have been reading, I'm afraid- at least not yet. So, I am now preparing myself to come out from underneath my comfortable rock, beneath which I had a brilliant break from the troubles of the world, and begin again with that ever so accelerating hobby: griping about all things donkey!

Here's to Dick Cheney

This is former Vice President Cheney's speech to the American Enterprise Institute. Assertions such as these are the result of little reflection and even less factual data. Right now I feel the overwhelming need to defend the greatest president in the history from the malicious attacks against president Reagan's character and- as it happens- the character of conservatives in general. But I keep telling myself to heed the words of Ann Coulter in her book How to Talk to Liberal (If You Must):

"unless you were in the Ku Klux Klan like Vanity Fair's 'Profiles in Courage' winner Senator Bob Byrd, or killed a woman like Senator Ted Kennedy, or you are credibly accused of rape by Juanita Broadrick on NBC News within weeks of being impeached like You-Know-Who-- you don't need to be defensive".

So with this advice in mind (and since I have not committed any of these atrocities), I will now present some simple facts and figures that will defend the essence of conservatism (without the slightest hint of defensiveness, I might add).

"Reagan Promoted Greed" - Why then did the greedy people of the 1980's donate a total of $124.31 billion to charity, "fifty-five percent more than the previous twenty-five years" (What Went Right With The 80s)? Hmmm...

"Reagan Caused the Current Financial Crisis" - If I recall correctly, it was not the Great Communicator who signed the Community Reinvestment Act which encouraged banks to lend money to people who did not show evidence of being able to pay it back. Carter was the sweet-heart who let that one rip. And though it was hardly ever enforced after it was enacted, Clinton, the boy wonder, made the rules in the CRA much more strict in the 90's.

"Reaganism is Dead" - The only aspect of Reagan that is dead is Reagan's earthly body. His ideas and philosophies will be the core of the conservative movement for as long as it exists. In other words, if you disagree with Reagan's philosophies, you disagree with the philosophies of conservatism itself.

Horrors of Islamic Terrorism Revisited

Today I was on Human Events reading an article about the dwindling freedom of speech in Great Britain. As I passed over the web-page there was a reference to a video called Fitna and, naturally, I had to watch it.

This video brought back all the horror of Bloody Tuesday, September 11, 2001. When the actual event happened, I was 10 years old and did not fully grasp what was going on. But after watching Fitna I now know the brutality of the attacks on the US, the UK, and Spain. I am now reinvigorated to support the wars in the Middle East and here at home.

Every human being on the planet should see this video.

The State of the Republican Union is........ not a Union at all?

I happened to catch a few minutes of this past Sunday's (Feb. 28 2009) edition of CBS's "Face the Nation", with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. I caught the few moments he spent commenting on the host's - (whose name escapes me at this moment - Bob something) - question that was something like: "is Rush Limbaugh really so important to the Republicans?" To which Mr. Chief of Staff said yes, Rush was important to Republicans and he was "the voice and the intellectual force and the energy behind the Republican Party". He used the term "intellectual force" more than once in his comments on the subject. I thought "Humm. Interesting. Let's see what comes of THIS." Of course, the weekend of Rush Limbaugh's speech to CPAC in Washington DC, which stirred up this mess with Michael Steele, Chairman of the RNC. Curious to see what the RNC was saying for itself, I went to their website, and discovered that there was not one comment, nor any news links on the subject.

Rush Limbaugh's website does comment, with his "words for Michael Steele."

All of this started back a couple of weeks ago when Rush made the comment on his program that he "did not want the President to succeed." I was listening to him that day, and got the FULL context of what he was saying. (People love to misunderstand and take Limbaugh's words out of context.) I understood him to be saying that he did not want the president to succeed in transforming this country into a socialist country with his liberal agendas. This was not a wish for personal failure at all. Of course, later that week in a White House press conference, the President addressed the comment. saying something to the effect of "he wished people would stop listening to Limbaugh." Ever since, the Media has been all over it.

I think that leaders are defined, in part, by those that follow them. Without followers, you're not even a leader, by definition. Steele won an election within the RNC, and he became the Chairman of the Republican National Committee. This means he presides over meetings of Party Officials and is a mouthpiece of the RNC in the Media, should he so choose.

I cannot speak for all Republican Voters; I can only speak for myself. And for myself, when I need the truth; when I need perspective, when I require inspiration, I do not go to the RNC - nor do I try to find out what Michael Steele is saying in the media. He went on that program with a RAPPER to say what he said about Rush. He also took part in the State of the Black Union gathering this year. (The state of the BLACK union? how is that any different from the rest of the Union? And I thought we were a little bit further away from this type of stuff in our country.)

Like many others, I became really perturbed with the RNC and Republicans in Congress in the past years, wondering where conservatism had disappeared to. Just consider out candidate for President this election. AHEM. I rarely describe myself as a Republican in conversations with people - I consider myself a conservative, and when the opportunity to vote presents itself, I find that the candidates closer to my conservative persuasion happen to be Republicans. I AM NOT A MODERATE, or a LIBERTARIAN. I am a conservative who votes Republican.

So now I find myself in an odd position: I agree with Mr. Emanuel, who said that Rush is the "voice and the intellectual force and the energy" of the Republican Party; and I disagree with Mr. Steele, who called Rush an "entertainer" and called his program, among other things, "ugly."

I think Michael Steele's pride was offended by Rush's prominence, annoyed by his own projected insignificance due to the media's labeling of Rush as the Leader of the Republicans; and then subsequently scared that he "took on" Rush - with his millions of loyal listeners, who would list Rush as their leader above Steele, if polled.

Rush himself never asserted that he was the leader of the Republicans, he has stated that he does not want to be the leader. But whether or not he wants to, he is to many people.

I think this sort of things only amplifies the apparent state of the Republicans right now - scattered and weak. We have GOT to GET IT TOGETHER before the elections in 2 years, or we will be in big trouble.

Limbaugh and Steele should both get away from this, and limit their personal remarks, and stop giving the media fodder for their silly televised Propaganda Shows.

Enjoying Global Warming

I love watching as the snow falls and covers the ground with a thick blanket of white. I woke up in time to see Bobby Jindal's response, however. I thought his response was fine; although it seemed like he was speaking to a room full of middle-school kids. The more I thought about it, however, this "tone" was very appropriate; as most people in this country who are swallowing this "Porkulus" package B.S. as the saving grace for this economic crisis seem to have the mentality of a middle schooler.

This was even more evident to me when I got up this morning and saw clips of the "Messiah's" speech on the "Today"show. I could not tell you what the President actually said, as I was so distracted by watching Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's facial expressions and her bouncing up and down every other sentence to cheer the President on. It cracked me up something awful. Her behavior made the whole thing so comical. This morning I was listening to a talk show and had to laugh when the host described her as looking like a thirteen year old schoolgirl at a Jonas Brother's Concert, screaming and freaking out over her hero.

Then I was further entertained and howled with laughter when I was listening to a clip of Vice Pres. Joe foot-in-mouth Biden on some morning show respond to a question - the question was from a woman who wanted to know what was in the "Porkulus" package to benefit small business owners. Joe Biden said she should "call his office directly" and he would help her figure out which parts of the "porkulus" package would benefit her small business best. He went on to ramble about "building a bridge across the creek" if the issue was that people couldn't get to her business. Build a bridge across the creek? Give me a break. Then, when the news anchor asked him about the website the government is setting up to fllow where the money is going, he had to ask what the "number for the website" was. Number for the website. Uh-Huh.

Now we all know that if Pres. Bush had said he didn't know what the "number" for a website was, he would have been ridiculed and mocked and labeled a big idiot. But let Joe Biden say it and it just gets swept under the preverbial media rug. Come on people!! Why can't the media be genuine across the board, (D) or (R)?!

One thing is for sure, the next four years, and probably four more after that, will be like one continuous comedy act. I will have to do a double take to figure out if what I am seeing or hearing is the real deal or an episode of SNL. That is, except for the hard cold facts about what is being done to this country by the hand of Liberals in elected office. Sometimes I fear that my beloved Country with it's banner of Freedom is being transformed into a socialist welfare state, where the government is nothing but a cancerous toumor that is growing at an astounding rate.

Let the cutting begin, baby; let the cutting begin.
Meanwhile, I will never cease to be amused.

Bobby Jindal Cuts Through the BS

Did he sound like an elementary teacher? Somewhat. But considering the fact the American people elected a man like Obama (the first black president of the USA) to the White House, I guess Bobby figured that he would be talking to a bunch of childish, ill-informed people, i.e., Obama supporters. He had to dumb down his message to their level. And in a way, this was the best move because he laid it out plain and clear to those people who have no clue what conservatism really is.

Anyways, here it is...

Obama Shoots the Breeze

Ever since the first time I heard President Obama, who is the first black president of the United States of America, speak on television, I have said that he says nothing more eloquently than any other person in the world. After his speech yesterday, this perception of the President has been reinforced with steel. Yes, he looked great. Yes, he sounded great. Did he make a good impression on people who own small businesses or invest in the stock market? Heck-to-the-no! HELLO...the stock market went DOWN. Why? Nothing so easy: INVESTORS HAVE BRAINS! They know that Obama's proposed policies will negatively effect the economy and reduce the value of their shares.

It would really help if Mr. Obama would instill some confidence by cutting the wealth creators some slack. That's change that I believe in.

Here's a clip...tell me what you think:

Victory in Iraq!

For the past four years we've been hearing nothing but bad news and body counts from the mainstream media in relation to the war in Iraq. The president of the United States, who, I must remind everyone, is the first black president, hardly mentioned the positive news about the election in Iraq that took place this week- indeed, he was much too busy pushing his anti-stimulus bill through Congress.

A column ran in Investor's Business Daily written by a Charles Krauthammer that gave some of the details of the election. The best news is that there was no violence on Election Day. "Well, that's only because US troops have the country under lock-down", some skeptics may say. Perhaps it would surprise them to find out that the security was in large part "handled by Iraqi forces with little U.S. involvement", says Krauthammer.

Oh, and how about this: of the 14,400 candidates representing 400 parties, no candidate whose party name contained the words 'Arab' or 'Islamic' were elected! How's that for secularism?

So, for all you liberal wackjobs out there who didn't think victory in Iraq was possible, you've been proven wrong by the people of the functioning constitutional democracy of Iraq.

Pelosi "Transforming" the Nation

CNNMoney.com ran an article today having to do with that ever so dull and ever so familiar subject: the stimulus plan. O.K., that was a bit of an exaggeration. But there is cause for optimism (as always).

I shake with laughter as I remember hearing Mr.Obama's intentions of making Congress "work together" and reaching across the isle. And I can't help but imagine the president's surprise when he heard that zero House Republicans voted for he and Pelosi's anti-stimulus rubbish. This surprise was most likely shared by the House Republicans! I must agree with Peggy Noonan in her summary of last weeks events, which asserts "Nancy Pelosi served up some old-style pork, Mr. Obama swallowed it, Republicans shocked themselves by being serious, and then they started themselves by being unified" (The Wall Street Journal). And even though the "stimulus" bill will be passed, we Republicans not only have something to be proud of, we have an actual event to point to and say "Charisma and good intentions are not enough to unify Congress, and they sure as heck aren't enough to unify a nation".

A Second Holocaust

To kick things off, I am going to post a satire I wrote for one of my classes. It is my response to the Israeli "problem" that it seems no one can solve. Heated debates have erupted based on this very touchy topic; however, I hold the key to ending the whole thing!

PLEASE REMEMBER, THIS IS A SATIRE!

_____________________________________________________________

It seems not a day goes by when we do not see a news story in the paper or on TV delineating some hostilities between the Israelis and the Muslim countries of the Middle East. It is plain to see, as told by the press and other reliable sources, that all of this hostility was initiated upon the creation of the Jewish state of Israel in 1948. Ever since then, the Muslim people of the Mid East have been forced to avow the destruction of Israel, and in so doing, they have been forced to murder innocent Israelis, Americans, Brits, and even other Muslims toward that end. Many diplomats have tried, fruitlessly, to produce a lasting peace between Israel and the other countries in the region. Through all of this, the fighting continues, and the Arabs of Palestine are still made to suffer. Fortunately, though, I have a remedy for this sickness that has plagued the world for 60 years. I propose that we carry on the noble work of Hitler's Germany by initiating a second Holocaust that will, once and for all, rid the Middle East region of the Jewish nation.

My plan will begin with the passing of a United Nations Resolution that will officially lay the blame for the conflict in the Mid East directly on the people of Israel. It will also make the support of the state of Israel, in any form, absolutely illegal (infringement will result in economic sanctions). Since Israel already contains many weapons (supplied mainly by the United States), a campaign of allied forces will be launched for the purpose of retrieving the vast majority of these weapons. Once Israel is left virtually defenseless, the U.N. will signal the already alerted united Muslim forces and tell them they are clear to attack. With no support from the international community, it would only be a matter of time before Israel falls and is erased from the face of the earth. With Israel gone, the countries of the Middle East will finally be able to return to their centuries old tradition of fighting amongst themselves about petty issues.

Therefore, let no one speak to me of the root issues at the heart of this debate, nor of other solutions to the problem. I will not hear that the land of Israel was originally occupied by Jews thousands of years ago, nor will I consider that the Jews have prior claim on that small patch of desert. Do not speak to me of the fact that the Jews have endured centuries of persecution, driven from their homes, scattered around the world.
And, most importantly, do not tell me that the people of Israel have the right to defend themselves against malicious and unprovoked attacks. Lastly, I will not hear that there should be peace talks in which the safety of human beings, Jewish and Muslim, is the chief concern.

My plan for the eradication of the Israeli state will make the world a better place. It will end the jihad against the West because we will discontinue our support of Israel. It will cause great rejoicing throughout the world, in spite of the fact that we will have been facilitators of mass murder. Before we know it, the world will be well on its way to achieving the greatest goal imaginable: World Peace. All this resulting from the simple task of withdrawing our support from Israel. We should have done this a long time ago.

_________________________________________________________________

Since the liberal "experts" think that our support of Israel (and our dependence on oil) is the root of US Arab discord, this only makes sense...Right?

How I Roll

Hello everyone! I am one of those people who has started many blogs but never stuck with any of them. This happens, in part, because I limited the content of the blogs to something specific and ended up interested in some other "specific" thing. As you can see, the description of this blog is focused on politics, but not a certain sphere of politics. Therefore, I will be writing about politics in the great state of North Carolina but I will also write on national and world politics as well.

Also, as my description delineates, the content of this blog WILL BE BIASED for the simple reason that it is my perspective of what's going on in the world! This does not mean, however, that I will not be using facts; I LOVE facts. I will be using them all the time. But I will be writing my opinion of what these facts mean.

So, if you're ready for some nonprofessional political commentary with a conservative bias that seeps sarcasm, you will want to watch this blog.

Enjoy!
